Last week Verizon and Motorola took the wraps off the new DROID lineup. That lineup consists of the DROID Turbo 2 and Maxx 2, available only on Verizon. To celebrate the unveiling Verizon held a little game last week to give people a chance to win one of 200 free DROID Turbo 2 phones. The game took place on Verizon’s Tumblr page, and those who signed up were placed in a queue for a chance to play and win one of the phones. It seems that while some people did score free phones, many were left upset in the wake of long wait times, players skipping ahead of their turn, and an overall poor participant experience.
To make up for the inconvenience, Droid Life is reporting that Verizon is reaching out to affected users on Twitter via DM. Inside the DM users are finding a free $50 gift card offer. Many people were initially concerned that the offer may be some type of scam, but it appears to be legit. If you are one of the lucky ones that got a free Turbo 2 last week, let us know in the comments. If not, did you get a DM with the free $50 offer?
